24:21 Kenite. A nomadic tribe of metalworkers found in Palestine from the Patriarchal period onward (Gen. 15:19). Moses’ father-in-law is identified as both a Midianite and a Kenite (Ex. 2:16; Judg. 1:16). The Rechabites of Jer. 35 are thought to be descendants of the Kenites (1 Chr. 2:55; Neh. 3:14).
