16:6 Phrygia and Galatia. This is the southern part of the larger province of Galatia. It included the Phrygian district, Antioch of Pisidia, and the surrounding area.

Holy Spirit . . . Asia. The province of Asia, located in the western sector of Asia Minor, included the famous city of Ephesus where God wanted Paul to go at a later date (ch. 19). The Holy Spirit’s identity coincides with both the Spirit of Jesus (v. 7) and God (v. 10; cf. 2 Cor. 3:17 note). These verses point to the Christian doctrine of the Trinity (cf. 2 Cor. 13:14).
