Hezron, Esron [Hĕz'rŏn]—shut in, blooming or dart of joy.

  1. A son of Pharez or Perez and grandson of Judah and founder of a tribal family (Gen. 46:12; Num. 26:6, 21; Ruth 4:18, 19; 1 Chron. 2:9; 4:1).
  2. A son of Reuben and founder of the Hezronite family (Gen. 46:9; Exod. 6:14; Num. 26:6; 1 Chron. 5:3). Also name of a town called Hazor (Josh. 15:23).
