⁸ You have caused ^(A)my companions to shun me;
    you have made me ^(B)a horror^[a] to them.
I am ^(C)shut in so that I cannot escape;
^{9     (D)}my eye grows dim through sorrow.
Every day I call upon you, O Lord;
    I ^(E)spread out my hands to you.
