⁵ Then Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, ⁶ “^(A)Bring the tribe of Levi near and have them stand before Aaron the priest, that they may minister to him. ⁷ And they shall keep his responsibility and the responsibility for the whole congregation before the tent of meeting, to perform the ^(B)service of the tabernacle. ⁸ They shall also keep all the furnishings of the tent of meeting, along with the responsibility of the sons of Israel, to perform the service of the ^[a]tabernacle. ⁹ You shall thus ^(C)give the Levites to Aaron and to his sons; they are wholly given to him from among the sons of Israel. ¹⁰ So you shall appoint Aaron and his sons that ^(D)they may keep their priesthood, but ^(E)the ^[b]outsider who comes near shall be put to death.”

The Portion of the Levites

18 “^(A)The Levitical priests, the whole tribe of Levi, shall have no portion or inheritance with Israel; they shall eat of the offerings to Yahweh by fire and of His inheritance.

⁸ “^(A)Take care against ^[a]an infection of leprosy, to be very careful and to do according to all that the Levitical priests instruct you; as I have commanded them, so you shall be careful to do.

³ and they commanded the people, saying, “When you see the ^(A)ark of the covenant of Yahweh your God with the Levitical priests carrying it, then you shall set out from your place and go after it.

The Levitical Responsibilities

¹⁵ “But the ^(A)Levitical priests, the sons of ^(B)Zadok, who ^(C)kept the responsibility of My sanctuary when the sons of Israel ^(D)went astray from Me, shall come near to Me to minister to Me; and they shall ^(E)stand before Me to bring near to Me the ^(F)fat and the blood,” declares Lord Yahweh.
