¹¹ And the crowds were saying, “This is ^(A)the prophet Jesus, from ^(B)Nazareth in Galilee.”

²⁵ And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, and this man was ^(A)righteous and devout, ^(B)waiting for the ^[a](C)comfort of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. ²⁶ And ^(D)it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not ^(E)see death before he had seen the ^[b]Lord’s ^[c]Christ. ²⁷ And he came in the Spirit into the temple, and when the parents brought in the child Jesus ^[d](F)to carry out for Him the custom of the Law, ²⁸ then he took Him into his arms and blessed God, and said,

³³ And His father and ^(J)mother were marveling at the things which were being said about Him. ³⁴ And Simeon blessed them and said to Mary ^(K)His mother, “Behold, this Child is appointed for ^(L)the fall and ^[e]rise of many in Israel, and for a sign to be opposed—

^16 (A)And fear gripped them all, and they began ^(B)glorifying God, saying, “A great ^(C)prophet has arisen among us!” and, “God has ^[a]visited His people!”

¹⁹ And He said to them, “What things?” And they said to Him, “The things about ^(A)Jesus the Nazarene, who was a mighty ^(B)prophet in deed and word in the sight of God and all the people,

²¹ And they asked him, “What then? Are you ^(A)Elijah?” And he *said, “I am not.” “Are you ^(B)the Prophet?” And he answered, “No.”

²⁵ And they asked him, and said to him, “Why then are you baptizing, if you are not the ^[a]Christ, nor Elijah, nor ^(A)the Prophet?”

¹⁹ The woman *said to Him, “^[a]Sir, I see that You are ^(A)a prophet.

²² Moses said, ‘^(A)The ^[a]Lord God will raise up for you a prophet ^[b]like me from your brothers; to Him you shall listen to everything He says to you.

³⁷ This is the Moses who said to the sons of Israel, ‘^(A)God will raise up for you a prophet ^[a]like me from your brothers.’
