Surely, God, you have worn me out;(A)
    you have devastated my entire household.(B)
You have shriveled me up—and it has become a witness;
    my gauntness(C) rises up and testifies against me.(D)
God assails me and tears(E) me in his anger(F)
    and gnashes his teeth at me;(G)
    my opponent fastens on me his piercing eyes.(H)
10 People open their mouths(I) to jeer at me;(J)
    they strike my cheek(K) in scorn
    and unite together against me.(L)
11 God has turned me over to the ungodly
    and thrown me into the clutches of the wicked.(M)
12 All was well with me, but he shattered me;
    he seized me by the neck and crushed me.(N)
He has made me his target;(O)
13     his archers surround me.(P)
Without pity, he pierces(Q) my kidneys
    and spills my gall on the ground.
14 Again and again(R) he bursts upon me;
    he rushes at me like a warrior.(S)

15 “I have sewed sackcloth(T) over my skin
    and buried my brow in the dust.(U)
16 My face is red with weeping,(V)
    dark shadows ring my eyes;(W)

But now he hath made me weary: thou hast made desolate all my company.

And thou hast filled me with wrinkles, which is a witness against me: and my leanness rising up in me beareth witness to my face.

He teareth me in his wrath, who hateth me: he gnasheth upon me with his teeth; mine enemy sharpeneth his eyes upon me.

10 They have gaped upon me with their mouth; they have smitten me upon the cheek reproachfully; they have gathered themselves together against me.

11 God hath delivered me to the ungodly, and turned me over into the hands of the wicked.

12 I was at ease, but he hath broken me asunder: he hath also taken me by my neck, and shaken me to pieces, and set me up for his mark.

13 His archers compass me round about, he cleaveth my reins asunder, and doth not spare; he poureth out my gall upon the ground.

14 He breaketh me with breach upon breach, he runneth upon me like a giant.

15 I have sewed sackcloth upon my skin, and defiled my horn in the dust.

16 My face is foul with weeping, and on my eyelids is the shadow of death;
