¹² And he ^(A)dreamed, and behold, there was a ladder^[a] set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven. And behold, ^(B)the angels of God were ascending and descending on it!

¹⁹ He called the name of that place ^(A)Bethel,^[a] but the name of the city was Luz at the first.

⁹ God appeared^[a] to Jacob again, when he came from Paddan-aram, and blessed him. ¹⁰ And God said to him, “Your name is Jacob; ^(A)no longer shall your name be called Jacob, but ^(B)Israel shall be your name.” So he called his name Israel.

¹⁵ So Jacob called the name of the place where God had spoken with him ^(A)Bethel.
