^23 (A)his corpse shall not hang all night on the tree, but you shall surely bury him on the same day (because ^(B)cursed of God is he who is hanged), so that you ^(C)do not make unclean your land which Yahweh your God gives you as an inheritance.

¹⁴ “Now they will set apart men who will continually pass through the land, ^(A)burying those who were passing through, even those left on the surface of the ground, in order to cleanse it. At the end of seven months they will make a search.

¹⁶ And even the name of the city will be Hamonah. So they will cleanse the land.”’
