⁷ Then Solomon built a high place for ^(A)Chemosh the detestable idol of Moab, on the mountain which is ^[a]east of Jerusalem, and for ^(B)Molech the detestable idol of the sons of Ammon. ⁸ Thus also he did for all his foreign wives, who burned incense and sacrificed to their gods.

²³ They also built for themselves ^(A)high places and sacred ^(B)pillars and ^[a](C)Asherim on every high hill and ^(D)beneath every green tree.

^2 [a]And Asa did what was good and right in the sight of Yahweh his God, ³ for he removed ^(A)the foreign altars and ^(B)high places, shattered the sacred pillars, cut the ^[b](C)Asherim in pieces, ⁴ and said for Judah to seek Yahweh, the God of their fathers, and to do the law and the commandment. ⁵ He also ^[c]removed the high places and the ^(D)incense altars from all the cities of Judah. And the kingdom was quiet before him.
