81 神こそ私たちの力です。
さあ、賛美の歌を歌いましょう。
2 タンバリンの伴奏で歌いましょう。
うるわしい音色の竪琴と十弦の琴をかなで、
3 ラッパを吹き鳴らしましょう。
満月と新月の祭りに、さまざまな祭りに集まり、
楽しく祝いましょう。
4 神は祭りを喜びの時として、
おきてに定めておられます。
5 祭りは、私たちを奴隷としたエジプトに対する
戦いの記念として、神が定めてくださったのです。
私は、このような、聞いたことのない声を聞きました。
6 「わたしはおまえの肩の重荷を下ろす。
おまえを重労働から解放する。
7 おまえが『苦しい』と叫んだ時、
わたしはおまえを助けた。
雷の隠れ家であるシナイ山から、わたしは答えた。
『水がない』と、おまえがメリバで不平を言った時、
わたしはおまえの信仰を試していた。
8 わたしの厳しい警告を聞きなさい。
おまえが耳を傾けてくれればと、わたしは願っている。
9 どんなことがあっても、ほかの神を拝んではならない。
家の中に偶像を置いてもいけない。
10 エジプトから連れ出したのは、
おまえの神である、このわたしではないか。
疑うのなら、口を大きく開けてみるがよい。
そして、わたしがその口いっぱいに
恵みを満たすかどうか試しなさい。
ありとあらゆる祝福はおまえのものになるだろう。
11 しかし、わたしの民はいっこうに聞こうとしない。
イスラエルは、わたしに従おうとしない。
12 そこで、わたしは彼らを放っておき、
闇の中を手探りしながら
欲望のままに暮らすようにした。
13 ああ、わたしの民が、
従順になってくれたらよいのに。
イスラエルが、わたしの道を歩んでくれたらよいのに。
14 そうすれば、わたしは直ちに
敵と戦って征服しただろう。」
15 今、主を憎んでいる者も、
やがては頭を下げるようになるのです。
そして、そんなみじめな状態から、
決して抜けられなくなります。
16 しかし、神はあなたに最上の食べ物を下さり、
上質のみつで堪能させてくださるのです。

Psalm 81[a]
For the director of music. According to gittith.[b] Of Asaph.
1 Sing for joy to God our strength;
shout aloud to the God of Jacob!(A)
2 Begin the music, strike the timbrel,(B)
play the melodious harp(C) and lyre.(D)
3 Sound the ram’s horn(E) at the New Moon,(F)
and when the moon is full, on the day of our festival;
4 this is a decree for Israel,
an ordinance of the God of Jacob.(G)
5 When God went out against Egypt,(H)
he established it as a statute for Joseph.
I heard an unknown voice say:(I)
6 “I removed the burden(J) from their shoulders;(K)
their hands were set free from the basket.
7 In your distress you called(L) and I rescued you,
I answered(M) you out of a thundercloud;
I tested you at the waters of Meribah.[c](N)
8 Hear me, my people,(O) and I will warn you—
if you would only listen to me, Israel!
9 You shall have no foreign god(P) among you;
you shall not worship any god other than me.
10 I am the Lord your God,
who brought you up out of Egypt.(Q)
Open(R) wide your mouth and I will fill(S) it.
11 “But my people would not listen to me;
Israel would not submit to me.(T)
12 So I gave them over(U) to their stubborn hearts
to follow their own devices.
13 “If my people would only listen to me,(V)
if Israel would only follow my ways,
14 how quickly I would subdue(W) their enemies
and turn my hand against(X) their foes!
15 Those who hate the Lord would cringe(Y) before him,
and their punishment would last forever.
16 But you would be fed with the finest of wheat;(Z)
with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.”
